Committees

Habitat Tuscaloosa has four committess that are open to individuals in the Tuscaloosa Community.  These committees work to enhance Habitat Tuscaloosa's mission by means of fundraising, support, recycling and selection!

Please email [ Carrie Henderson ]  for any further questions about becoming involved in one of these committees!

Development Committee Chair:  Shannon Corbell

This committee is solely responsible for organizing fundraisers throughout the year.  It requires creative thinking and extreme organization.

Ideal members are outgoing and ready for a challenge!

Family Selection Committee Chair:  Gaines Brake

This committee organizes and carries out application, interview, and selection processes. We find the families who fit the criteria of need for shelter, ability to make no-interest loan payments, and ability to partner with Habitat for Humanity.

Ideal Selection Committee members need to have an understanding of credit and financial stability.

Partner Support Committee Chair:

This committee will work with current Partner families and upcoming Partner families,  through sweat equity, home ownership education, home purchase process, adjustment to new responsibilities and continued partnership with the organization.

Ideal members would be people with an understanding of homeownership, maintenance, budgeting and a good work ethic.

ReStore Committe Chair:

This committee will work to expand the Tuscaloosa ReStore by means of promotion, supply drives and cultivating new materials.

Ideal candidates are people who believe in the recycling of materials, feel comfortable contacting building groups and contractors, as well as communicating with individuals.

Habitat Tuscaloosa is ALWAYS looking for more committee members with fresh ideas and a desire to help Habitat succeed.  There is no deadline for entry and no required time of stay, however to maintain some order, participants are asked to stay on board for a minimum of three to six months.

Please, don't hesitat to ask questions or to get more information!
